Ergi by Piratessan design submission...X-posted from facebook xD

It's been a really long time since I've decided to post an original work online. Lately, I've been having some sort of paranoia about people stealing photos, but after reading "It's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be" (by Paul Arden -which I ttly recommend you reading, especially if you're shy, but have loads of talent), I learned that it's good to share ideas because more ideas will come back to you. And hiding my ideas while I'm taking ideas off of other designers would make me a hypocrite (you'll see later that this drawing is based on a pattern from a Simplicity catalog....it's just more poofier and with a different print).

For those who are art critics, critique away. Yes, it's still in sketch form and I haven't managed to clean every thing (which is kinda hard since I don't know how to use photoshop...sad, inorite?), and it's also not in color. My purpose for doing that is to get some fresh eyes to tell me what they think and what I could improve on. Also, I haven't decided what color of print and embellish I want (I know I want a chocolate background with some sort of polka dot print - mint, blueberry, strawberry, or lavender).

The purpose of this design is to show a dress that can be worn for warm weather (as in this case, for a spring/summer collection), have a lolita silhouette, and a modern look (even if it screams 1950s revival). Even as a lolita, I honestly can't stand cutesy, blinding, dessert prints. I want to make something feminine and grown up, not girly and childish (no offense sweet loli fans...) I think I came up with wanting to make a summery jsk when someone posted a conversation on egl about what you wish to see in lolita that would be acceptable (like going barelegged or wearing graphic tees).

Thanks for you post. I wasn't sure what Ergi was leaning to since most of their items are pirate themed, but I think I'll submit this one later =)

I hope you'll find a scanner too. I don't know about the places where you live, but libraries and copy centers like Kinkos might have scanners (it's better than using a camera).
